On September 20th, 2013, 9 y/o Andrew Hockensmith frantically calls 911 from the back room of his parents' pawnshop, where an armed gunman has just stormed in. In spite of the danger, the boy only cares about saving his baby sister and urges the dispatcher to hurry and send help. Just 6 minutes later, police enter the pawn shop and are horrified to find 3 bodies. They soon determine that this triple homicide is no simple robbery gone wrong--instead, a shocking narrative is uncovered, involving betrayal, pawn shop gold, and a supposedly beloved pastor.

It’s Halloween night, 2004, when 911 dispatch receives a chilling call from a woman who desperately pleads for help: her roommates need immediate assistance. Lauren Meanza has just survived a brutal home invasion that claimed the lives of her two close friends, Adriane and Leslie. The scene is horrific, and the investigation begins with urgency as authorities work tirelessly to track down the unknown attacker.

On May 16, 2005, police responding to a call from a concerned neighbor entered the Groene family’s quiet home in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, expecting to find answers to why no one had been seen in days. Instead, they uncovered a chilling scene of horror: three members of the Groene family were brutally murdered. As investigators worked to identify the victims, a terrifying discovery was made—two of the youngest family members, 9-year-old Dylan and 8-year-old Shasta, were missing. The urgency to locate them became a desperate race against time.

Unbeknownst to law enforcement, Shasta was already 100 miles away, trapped in the wilderness with her family’s killer, Joseph Duncan III. Isolated and afraid, Shasta was forced to rely on her courage and resourcefulness, all while enduring unimaginable terror. As the days turned into weeks, Shasta began to devise a plan to survive, knowing her life depended on outsmarting the very man who had destroyed her family.

On November 11, 2010, the police arrived at Tina Hermann’s home after a frantic 911 call from her manager. Tina, a dependable worker, had missed an entire day without explanation—a disappearance completely out of character.

Inside the house, an eerie silence greeted them. The family was gone, but the scene left behind told a sinister story. Bloodstains, motor oil and a crumpled Walmart receipt hinted at a chilling sequence of events. One car was missing from the driveway. Then, officers found a disturbing clue: a single, woman-sized shoe print leading out of the house.

Someone had walked away alive.

As the community rallied to search for Tina, her children, and her boyfriend, the clock was ticking. Somewhere out there, 13-year-old Sarah found herself in a place beyond imagination—a secluded nightmare the locals would later call the house of leaves. Time was running out as she faced an unimaginable fight for survival against the Leaf Killer, Matthew Hoffman.

Sarah later wrote a book about her ordeal, titledThe Girl in the Leaves.

The Duperraults, a happy family from Wisconsin, were chasing a dream. Arthur Duperrault, a devoted father, envisioned a perfect family getaway—a sailing trip to the Bahamas. In November 1961, he rented a luxurious yacht called the Bluebelle, bringing along his wife Jean, their three children, and a family friend, Dr. Julian Harvey, with his new wife, Mary. For four days, it seemed the Duperraults’ dream had come true, with sunlit waters and carefree exploration.

But, on the morning of November 15, the Bluebelle was found drifting aimlessly, its masts broken and its decks eerily silent. The only survivors were Dr. Harvey, who claimed a sudden storm caused the shipwreck, and an 11-year-old girl named Tere Jo Duperrault, found days later clinging to life on a small life raft. Tere Jo’s memories revealed secrets of betrayal, violence, and the harrowing fight for survival that unfolded in the vast open sea. As the details emerged, they raised one chilling question: What really happened aboard the Bluebelle?
